Tyse loves to tease Jas about liking KSU.  We went to bed one night and this was taped on Jasper's side of the bed.

(The word spacing is not great, but you get the idea of what it says..."KSU Lets Go")

This boy isn't so little anymore.  A month or so ago he learned to ride his 2 wheeled bike.  Then, last week he wrote his name for the first time. YEA JACK!!

Homemade laundry soap....

Just recently I started making homemade laundry detergent. I loved tide and that's all I really used to use. Considering I do so much laundry and it's mostly made up of water, I figured I didn't have much to loose since it cost pennies to make. I almost feel guilty for not spending more money to clean our clothes, it's almost like I want to use half the bucket in each load. You know those people that are always talking about how they make their own hand lotion, bath soap, shampoo, toothpaste and baby wipes?...the whole time they are talking your thinking....seriously, is it really worth it? Just go buy some baby wipes at the dollar store. This is real people. It takes no time and it's as good or better than tide. Try it, you'll like it.

5th grade and kdg.

BOY oh BOY were these boys ready to go!! Well, at least Tyse anyway. One of their last conversation before walking out the door went something like this.

Andrew to Tyse: Tyse you'll learn lotsa stuff at school and most of it you don't even need.

Now that is some good brother to brother encouragement huh?!?!

....and this one was pretty excited he still gets to stay home and play....

and we're off to the hillbilly....PARTY!!

I'm so glad that they are not shy about dressing the part. They definitely got that from their father.

Broc teaching them some quick hillbilly lingo.

Broc showing Jack his "new" tattoo.

If you have a better quote than this I'd like to hear it. Here's to only a few more days of summer break!!

"I already want to take a nap tomorrow"

Andrew was pretty excited to pass out the gifts he brought home for everyone. I'm pretty sure I got the best one, these cupcakes didn't disappoint!! We all tried a bite or two of each one and the rest went into "hiding" for when I need a sweet treat. Now I'm finding little crumbs coming off the plate that was in hiding. Shucks!! They found them.

homemade diving board...

Now come on, who hasn't ever tried to make a homemade diving board. This one is made with a container, 2 wooden card holders, 2 wooden puzzles and lots of scotch tape.

Andrew started out trying to give some advise, but apparently the engineer didn't want any so Andrew left.

lots of tape....

making sure the underneath has plenty of tape....

a really, really long piece of tape

almost done....

Guess who is the one that gets to test it out....

getting nervous....

Jack said "um..Tyse that did not work out so well"

getting more support with a couple of tinkertoys after the fall....

one of those days last week when.... was about a million and a 1/2 degrees out and the boys were playing inside oh so good, I decided on a whim to skip nap time. Since kdg. is slowly sneaking up on us I wanted to see if ole' Tyse could hack it without a nap. My boys are sleepers. I love that. I was getting supper ready and went to the living room to check on them and they were out like a light. Both on separate sofas snoozing away. We do get to bed late in the summer so it wasn't really a true test. I'm sure he wont fall asleep during rest time in kdg. but I remember how exhausted Andrew was those first few weeks.

who was in charge of the sunscreen? + EDITED VERSON

Jas fired me from being in charge of the sunscreen ever again, but come on it was a little windy.

Apparently this was a very confusing post to some people (FAS). So, for those of you who didn't understand it here is an edited version. We were at oceans of fun and I was in charge of putting sunscreen on Jasper Frazee. It was pretty windy that morning which resulted in an uneven spray which in turn caused him to have a blotchy sunburn. I thought it was a lot funnier than he did.

ooey gooey lady

When I went to a conference that this lady held on a Sat (see links below). I had a very bad attitude. Pretty much all that was going through my head during the driving time was "this is such a waste." She ended up being awesome and if you ever get the chance GO!! Go listen to what she has to say. I learned so much and have since tried to adopt some of what she has to say. I'd love to get her to speak in our school system sometime.

This is an older one, but its great!! Worksheets used to be a very high priority to me when working with the boys. I still think its important that they are able to sit and finish a project on paper but not nearly as important as I thought. There is more important things to work on. What do you think?

check out her recipes for sensory play....and try them....they are fun!!!!

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Sunflower state games was last weekend so baseball is over until next year. A few short weeks of summer left and school will be starting. Tyse is ready for kdg. and Andrew is looking forward to redeeming his birthday present from us which was a plane ticket to DC. He will be flying out on the 26th and staying for a few days. Get excited Asha he is ready for a good time.

old made new again....

....with NORWEX!! My first great find with norwex was the window cleaning rags. Now I'm in love with this leather shine. All the leather under my ownership is about to receive a good ole' polishing. Jas work shoes were the guinea pig of this "new to me product" and I'm impressed to say the least. Need your shoes shined? Drop them off and I will spruce them right up.

These two usually keep their distance but today they were having a good time. Andrew would probably be embarrassed if he knew I posted these but Livie thought he was a BIG hero!!

Good clean HUMOR

I'm a big copy cat and copied this off facebook, so if you have facebook I'm sure you already saw it.

He is a feisty one.

  1. Having or showing exuberance and strong determination.
  2. Touchy and aggressive.
This definition fits Jack perfectly. Although he is not usually aggressive as in being mean, he does like to talk like he is a big tough guy. When he does this we all get a big laugh-its pretty hilarious.

I thought that softening the lighting would help him look "happier." Didn't help any.

This little one has some spark in him that the other 2 did not. In his defense, having a photo-shoot while he was mad probably didn't help any.
